Alumni Work Party July 2024 Recap

*Dlbwck!*

To quote Rob Thomas, esq., it was a hot one. And yet, the brothers and alumni came together on July 7th to complete/continue several important projects and then enjoy some homecooked barbecue. Even better, we have pictures on the progress we made. Read on and enjoy!

Shed Door Installed

After moving the shed, it was imperative that we fixed the door. It had been hanging on a hinge for several years, until coming off last spring. Larry Thornton-Jones and Wally Karstad spearheaded the project, using a piece of leftover plywood that fit with serendipitous proportions. Now the brothers have a much safer location to keep important landscaping tools and materials.

President’s Room

In the basement, Wonsuk “Azrael” Han worked with new members Ethan “GJAB” Kramis and Jorge “Musashi” Idaretta to continue renovating the President’s Room. After deconstructing the separator wall and preserving some art from Delta’s past, they had to begin constructing a new facade on the concrete by installing new studs.

As it turns out, 6o year old concrete is a hard nut to crack, but with the help of new drill bits, the trio made headway to remake one of Delta Psi Delta’s most spacious living areas.

Yardwork

It wouldn’t be a summer work party without a little yardwork. Sam “Mr. Kitty” Ruder, Avery “Bilbo” Shankland, Salem “Pines” McCants, Chance “Ninkasi” Jones, David “Pulzer” Betts and Ben “Triveckolsbutcherkia” Niesen all threw their hats in the ring here. Together, they beat back the blackberries, mowed the lawn and cut brush into kindling before moving the rest for debris collection.

The Barbecue

“Two thumbs up!” – Chance “Ebert” Jones

Sorry, no pictures! *dlbwck!* Triveckolsbutcherkia says he was too busy gorging on the phenomenal cooking of Pulzer, along with the gifted ribs from his parents to focus on photography. I don’t blame him. At least this time, he wasn’t eating my brethren in wings *dlbwck!* If you want pictures for what a Delta barbecue looks like, however, it was eerily similar to our Big-Little Barbecue in March of this year.

Special Thanks

We would like to extend our thanks to all the alumni who came and the brothers for making this alumni work party a success. We could not have done so without everyone’s support. Future work parties will be on the menu, so please stay tuned to Facebook, Instagram, or subscribe to our MailChimp service if you would like to get involved. You can find the password on our Facebook group page!

Here’s to the success of our next Alumni Work Party and we hope to see you soon!
