Spring 2025 Semester, New Members and Other Updates

*dlbwck* Wait… Is this? Is it Spring already? Didn’t it snow, like, a week ago? Oh god, it’s nearly March!

Ol’ *dlbwck!* got deep in the henhouse without a light, and the next thing he knew, it was already a new year. And with that existential horror of creeping time out of the way, there’s no better method to welcoming all you Deltas, new and experienced, to Spring Semester 2025.

New Members on the Block

Last term, the brothers welcomed three new members into the fraternity, Conner “Garfield” Tompkins-Delacerda, Cristoph “Diablo” Geiger, and Emmett “GOGB” Huth. Their first semester with the brothers was rife with hijinks, shenanigans and just plain heartwarming moments. After they settled into the house, ol’ *dlbwck!* asked them to share a little about themselves for the blog. Here’s what they had to say!

What brought you to Linfield?

Conner: What brought me to Linfield was nothing. I said why not!

Cristoph: My exchange year abroad brought me to Linfield, I wanted to be in an English-speaking country and Linfield seemed nice also because of Oregon being a nice state, but there is not a lot to it.

Emmett: I transferred to Linfield because it was closer to home and for the nursing program.

What’s one hobby you’ve been really getting into lately?

Conner: One hobby I’ve gotten into is water taste testing.

(*dlbwck!* note: He’s not joking.)

Cristoph: I really got into Warhammer lately, mainly because it is break for me and because of all the people who play it in America.

Emmett: I have been getting back into playing my guitar more over break.

The fateful cross across the threshold.

What interested you about joining Delta Psi Delta?

Emmett: I was told joining a fraternity would be a good way to make some friends since I was struggling to do that.

Cristoph: I wanted to have a community while being in America. Also, as a German, I had no idea what a fraternity even is so I wanted to use my time in America making new and exciting experiences.

What was your favorite pledgeship experience with the Delta brotherhood?

Emmett: My favorite pledgeship experience was making friends I otherwise wouldn’t have made with out the pledge process.

Conner: Favorite pledgeship experience was understanding that a Delta can find their way home.

Cristoph: Bid night was quite funny. But, looking back, probably the last day of Brotherhood Week. I learned a lot more about myself.

What’s one improvement/goal you would like to achieve at Delta Psi Delta?

Emmett: I would like to try have the fraternity try to do more philanthropy events if that’s for one charity or multiple.

Conner: One goal for Delta is to be more involved with school.

Cristoph: One improvement for myself would be to learn how to live with a community and improve myself in many areas. I think one goal is to get closer to all the brothers and use the limited time well that I have with them

If there’s one alumni you could hang out with, why is it *dlbwck!* and what would you do together?

Cristoph: There are too many options, playing Warhammer with the infamous green god (a.k.a. Mr. Piccolo) or any of the Warhammer enthusiasts, or just chilling with them or Cheshire I really like him.

Emmett: I think it would be great to be with *dlbwck!* we could go out, and eat dinner together, and watch a movie.

Conner: Alumni Orwell and we would make a sandcastle in the Arctic.

(*dlbwck!* note: Extra points to Emmett for understanding that *dlbwck!* is clearly an alumni worth wining and dining.)

Rush Week Is Fast Approaching!

This isn’t a picture from Bid Night, but it still slaps like Bid Night.

Speaking of new members, the fraternity is fast approaching Rush Week. The brothers are excited be working with Phired Up, a national non-profit that promises to energize and refresh their rush process with new ideas and strategies. Together, they hope to put on a stellar Rush Semester.

The brothers would also like to invite alumni to join them in welcoming potential new members into the fraternal fold of Delta Psi Delta. While the Rush Week schedule is still pending and will be announced soon, Bid Night has been set for February 28th!

Looking Ahead

Even though the trees have yet to bud and birds yet to return, we are always thinking of ways to make this semester special. Beyond just bid night, the Alumni Association and 369 Board are working on some exciting announcements to come throughout the Spring. Stay tuned to Delta Mail, as well as our Facebook and Instagram pages to see what’s happening, or join the Facebook Group to engage in some top-flight group banter!

This is *dlbwck!* clucking off!
