Delta Spring 2024 Recap

Oh my great green rooster, it’s (almost) June. That can only mean one thing: a spring semester recap from ol’ *dlbwck!* There’s a lot to talk about this Spring Semester because yours truly forgot to get off his tailfeathers. Oh well, it’s all *dlbs* under the *wck!* now.

Brotherhood Week Spring 2024

On April 21st, 2024, the Deltas welcomed five new members to the fraternal ranks: Jacob Biegel, Logan Frazier-Smith, Jorge Idaretta, Ethan Kramis and Sam Ruder! This was the largest pledge class for Delta Psi Delta since COVID shutdown our entire operation.

The new members showcased their resiliency, togetherness, knowledge of the fraternity and a dash of derring-do across the entire weekend. And when the chips were down, they joined the alumni for a rousing rendition of our fraternity standard, “That’s Amore,” by Dean Martin.

A full gallery for the weekend is now available on our archives for our members old and new!

The fraternity now has 13 active members, with one due to return from studying abroad in Norway. That’s a grand total of 14 members, with three graduating this semester. The brothers will have 11 total in the fall and 10 living in the house.

Over 25 alumni made the pilgrimage back to 369 SE College Ave. to assist the current brothers and meet the new members. Ol’ *dlbwck!* would like to take a moment here to congratulate the house for another successful semester of outstanding growth and thank the alumni for their presence.

Alumni Work Party

On Monday, May 13th, the brothers and alumni also came together this semester to finish a longstanding project on the to-do list: moving the old work shed away from the fence next to Potter Hall. For about a year now, the bamboo grove behind the house has turned into quite the jungle.

Bamboo requires a great deal of maintenance, and it became a hard job to undertake with membership dipping so low. Add in the complications of the plant spreading underneath the shed and into the grounds of Potter, and the situation became untenable. Something had to be done.

To that end, alumni David Betts and Larry Thornton-Jones took the lead. Together with the help of the entire fraternity, they rolled the shed on makeshift logs to its new location behind the chapter room double doors. We also had enough time to do some quick tree trimming and mow the back stretch of the lawn.

Want to see how we did? Check out the video below!

Now the space is clear for Linfield Facilities to assist with the bamboo removal project. Once the bamboo is gone, the brothers will be able to plan a new use for the space. *dlbwck!* is that sound of a back deck I hear? What can I say? I’m an idea rooster!

If you’re keen to join us for another Alumni Work Party, you’re in luck we have one scheduled for the Summer! Click the link below to import it into your calendar!

Fifth Thursday Is Soon Upon Us

That’s right! Just like a fox in the henhouse, Fifth Thursday has snuck up on you, me and every other old cockerel with a calendar but no will to use it. That’s okay, though, this is precisely why ol’ *dlbwck!* is looking out for ya. Join us at Old Market Pub and Brewery on Thursday evening, May 30th for beers, laughs and stories!

Last Clucks

And that’s it, thank you for reading our Spring 2024 update. The Alumni Association is hard at work planning for this years’ 120th Anniversary. We have another Delta Skull coming for the Summer along with several big announcements before and during Homecoming.

To stay tuned to the latest news, make sure to subscribe to the Delta Scroll, join our Facebook page and group and take a moment to send some love to brothers on Instagram. You can also register for MailChimp updates that include notifications for the next Fifth Thursday and the Delta Skull, our trimesterly newsletter.

Until next time, this is *dlbwck,* clucking out!
